Elsevier Foundation Seeks Applications for Innovative Libraries and New Scholars Programs
The Elsevier Foundation, which provides grants to institutions around the world working to support libraries and scholars in the early stages of their careers, is seeking new grant proposals for the 2012 Innovative Libraries in Developing Countries and New Scholars programs.

Winter School “Limits to Growth Revisited”
The buzzword of our time, “sustainability”, is closely related to a book published 40 years ago, in 1972: “The Limits to Growth” by an MIT project team involving Donella and Dennis Meadows. Only few things seem to have changed since then. Again the various developments in different societies call for new matching modes of thinking that promise a secure future for everyone. What is smart or good growth? Why are so many findings of the report still unresolved? Will there be solutions? And which ones could that be?
In order to give fresh impetus to the debate, the Volkswagen Foundation, who funded “Limits to Growth”, aims to foster new thinking and the development of different models in all areas related to the “Limits to Growth” study at the crossroads of natural and social sciences.
The Winter School “Limits to Growth Revisited” (November 24 to December 1, 2012) is directed specifically at highly talented young scholars from related disciplines.

CONVOCATORIA CYTED 2012 El Programa Iberoamericano de Ciencia y Tecnología para el Desarrollo (Programa CYTED) abre su Convocatoria pública y anual de Acciones CYTED. La Convocatoria permanecerá abierta desde el día 1 de febrero hasta el 3 de abril a las 17h (hora local de Madrid, España) y tendrá disponibles las líneas de investigación indicadas en el Anexo 1 de las Bases de la Convocatoria (www.cyted.org). En dicho documento se especifican los instrumentos de participación que se admiten en cada línea convocada (Red Temática o Acciones de transferencia de tecnología al sector empresarial para la presente Convocatoria) de las 7 Áreas Científico-Tecnológicas en las que se desarrolla el Programa CYTED (Agroalimentación, Salud, Promoción del Desarrollo Industrial, Desarrollo Sostenible, Cambio Global y Ecosistemas, Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, Ciencia y Sociedad y Energía) Para solicitar una propuesta se deberá cumplimentar el formulario on-line habilitado en la página Web de CYTED (www.cyted.org). Así mismo, todos los documentos relativos a la Convocatoria se encuentran disponibles en la Web del Programa (dentro del apartado “CYTED investigación Convocatoria 2012”).
